The 1,000 Sq ft apartment owned by a well traveled Middle Eastern / British business man was designed to capture his taste for culture in a way that was masculine, minimal and modern. The owners love for textures, colour and ornament are expressed minimally in the tile selections in the bathrooms.
The studio aims to create a sense of space by creating contrasts and levels via a discerning use of colours - rather than the all-too-common practice of using only white. To incorporate patterns and different hues into the space, proportion is well-considered to create a visual impact.
In the master bathroom, a contrast of modern concrete tiles and highly patterned Moroccan wall tiles from Italy and in small niches of the bathroom are mixed with the use of rich wood basins for added warmth - to inject a sense of fun and personality.
To further make best use of the available space in the apartment, a hidden workspace is created using panel doors on a wall cabinet, which also provides concealed storage for kitchen utensils and enables the island to convert to a bar-height counter-top when necessary.
